Confidential Information

The information which FIRST makes available to Volunteer Coordinators in the Volunteer Management System (VMS) is FIRST confidential information and is subject to the terms of the FIRST Privacy Policy. Please email privacy@firstinspires.org for any questions about the FIRST Privacy Policy.

As a Volunteer Coordinator you have access to personal information for volunteers as well as information from FIRST Headquarters from conference calls, webinars, manuals, notes, etc. All such information is herein referred to as “Confidential Information”.

You, as a Volunteer Coordinator, agree to:

1. Use the Confidential Information only as necessary to perform your responsibilities as a Volunteer Coordinator.
2. Keep confidential and not reveal the Confidential Information except as necessary to perform your responsibilities as a Volunteer Coordinator.
3. Always use BCC when emailing event volunteers.
4. Delete all downloaded files containing confidential information at the end of an event.

Volunteer Standards of Conduct

By accepting a volunteer position with us, you have a responsibility to FIRST and to your fellow volunteers to adhere to the FIRST Volunteer Standards of Conduct. When each person is aware that he or she can fully depend upon fellow volunteers to follow these Standards of Conduct, then our organization will be a better place to volunteer for everyone. FIRST Youth Protection Policy Screening

For the safety of participants and other volunteers, FIRST screens volunteers. FIRST has contracted with Verified Volunteers for US screening and myBackCheck for Canadian screening. Screening is accessible through your FIRST Dashboard on the FIRST website. Screening is paid for by FIRST.

By checking the "I agree" button, you are representing to FIRST and agreeing with FIRST as follows:

1. You understand that youth protection screening is required to be assigned as a volunteer coordinator or Volunteer Management System user.
2. You understand that the relationship between FIRST and volunteers is an “at will” relationship and that it may be terminated at any time, without cause, by either the volunteer coordinator or FIRST.
3. You consent to FIRST to obtaining information appropriate to investigate or verify any information provided by you to determine your suitability for a volunteer role, including your background, volunteer experience, education or related matters. You consent to any discussions regarding the foregoing and voluntarily and knowingly waive all rights to bring an action of defamation, invasion of privacy, or similar cause of action, against anyone providing such information.
4. You authorize FIRST and any organization retained by FIRST to investigate your background as necessary in connection with consideration of your application.
5. You authorize all persons, schools, companies, and organizations to supply all information concerning your background and to furnish reports thereon. You hereby release them, FIRST, and any organization retained by FIRST from any and all liability and responsibility arising from their doing so.
